Bookworm in Me

1. The Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky – “About half a mile from the tunnel, Sam stopped the car, and I climbed in back. Patrick played the radio really loud so I could hear it, and as we were approaching the tunnel, I listened to the music and thought about all the things that people have said to me over the past year. I thought about Bill telling me I was special. And my sister saying she loved me. And my mom, too. And even my dad and brother when I was in the hospital. I thought about Patrick calling me his friend. And I thought about Sam telling me good things. To be really there. And I just thought how great it was to have friends and a family.”

2. ) The Luxe by Anna Gobbersen – “Don’t go looking for boys in the dark. They will say pretty things then leave you with scars. Do go looking for boys in the park. For that is where the true gentlemen are.”

3. ) Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli – “You’ll know her more by your questions than by her answers. Keep looking at her long enough. One day you might see someone you know.” – Archie

4.) Love, Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli – “We were once so fresh, a dazzling snowfield. Let’s promise to each other that if we ever meet again we will never plow and push our new-fallen snow. We will not become slush. We will stay like this field and melt away together only in the sun’s good time.”

5.) My Sister’s Keeper – “There are stars in the night sky that look brighter than the others, and when you look at them through a telescope you realize you are looking at twins. The two stars rotate around each other, sometimes taking nearly a hundred years to do it. They create so much gravitational pull there’s no room around for anything else. You might see a blue star, for example, and realize only later that it has a white dwarf as a companion- that first one shines so bright, by the time you notice the second one, it’s too late.”

6.) The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger – “Clare, your hair is full of sand,” says Henry. I stop and lean over and beat my hair like a carpet with my hand.  A whole beach falls out of it.”

7.) Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl – “But most critically. sweet, never try to change the narrative structure of someone else’s story, though you will certainly be tempted to, as you watch those pour souls in school, in life, heading unwittingly down dangerous tangents, fatal disgressions from which they will unlikey be able to emerge. Resist the temptation, spend your energies on your story. Reworking it, making it better. Increasing the scale, the depth of content, the universal themes. And i don’t care what those themes are – they’re yours to uncover and stand behind – so long as, at the very least, there is courage.”

8.) Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella – “Relationships are all about trust and equality. If one person shares, then the other person should share, too.”

9.) Confessions of a Shopaholic – “Ok. don’t panic. Don’t panic. It’s only a VISA bill. It’s a piece of paper; a few numbers. I mean, just how scary can a few numbers be?”

10.) Shopaholic takes Manhattan – “People who want to make a million borrow a million first”

11.) Shopaholic Ties the Knot – “I look at the envelope for moment, then remove it and put it in my bag. Not because I’m hiding it. Simply because there’s no particular point in Luke seeing it. I read this really good magazine article recently, entitled “Too Much Information?” in which it said you should filter out the day’s events rather than tell your partner every single tiny thing and overload his or her weary mind. It said your home should be a sanctuary, and that no one needs to know everything. Which, when you think about it, makes a lot of sense.”

12.)Shopaholic & Sister –

13.) Shopaholic & Baby –

14.) Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella – “Never give up on something you really want. However impossible things seem, there’s always a way.”
